Wednesday’s Word – June 3, 2020

Good Morning Everyone!

In our United Methodist Men’s Disciple Bible Study, we have been reading about the Old Testament people in Joshua, Judges, Samuel, and Kings.  Scripture tells us that, “In those days there was no king in Israel and all the people did what was right in their own eyes” (Judges 21:25).    I feel like I am living in those days!

In those days God said I will be your God and you will be my people; but they forgot!

In these days God says, Repent and follow me, and for a time we do; but now we forget!

This morning, I am choosing to spend time remembering!  What’s going on in this world reveals a very hard truth.  We are not good at ordering our own lives.  We need help!  And where does my Help come from?  My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth (Psalm 121).

I found this quote this morning, “Of one thing I am sure: God’s story never ends with ashes” (Elisabeth Elliot).  The time of the Lord’s favor has come….God will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, God will give us festive praise instead of despair (Isaiah 61:2-3).

Folks, it’s time to remember who is in charge!

Pastor Mike
