Wednesday’s Word – March 17, 2021

Wednesday’s Word

Good Wednesday Morning to You!  As I write this today, I have heard we could have rain, or sleet, or a snow/rain mix for Saint Patrick’s Day.  Hope Not!!!

Well, I’m thinking about my Father today.  I have to say, dad celebrated his Irish; he also celebrated his faith.  He put-up- with the party “St. Patty’s” has become but he really loved the truth of who Saint Patrick is.  And, Patrick was (and is) the patron saint of Ireland.  Born in Roman Britain, he was kidnapped at the age of 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave.  He escaped and later returned to win many to Christianity while establishing monasteries, churches, and schools.  How did he do that?  I believe he simply lived his faith!

In his last days, the Apostle Paul gave us amazing instructions.

He says: “Study, present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

It seems to me that whenever we “study” the saints we see that they are human.  They make mistakes.  They have difficulties, and burdens.  But they also have a few things in common.  They study God’s Word!  They turn from all wickedness!  They turn from godless chatter, and they run to Jesus!  They Overcome by the Word.!

So Saint Matthews by the Sea Saints:

Have a Beautiful, Holy, Word Filled, World Overcoming,

             Saint Patrick’s Wednesday!

                   Many Blessings          Pastor Mike
