Wednesday’s Word

Good Wednesday Morning to you!!  As you know, Ann and I are enjoying some time off.   Early in our vacation I was reminded of an old family saying that says, ”There is no rest for the wretched weary!”  Still I must say, even with all the turmoil, social, political, gloom, doom, and zoom, we have found some rest, thank you!

Beloved of God, Jesus speaks often about “Rest.”  In fact, in Matthew 11:20 – 30, right after he says, “Woe to you unbelievers!”, Jesus says there is Rest for the [Wretched] weary.

Jesus prays: “I thank you Father, Lord of heaven and earth, you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.  This was for your good pleasure.”

Jesus goes on to say: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

I am reminded, we don’t find rest in the things of this world.  We find our rest in the Lord!

Have a Wonderful & Truly Restful Wednesday,

Pastor Mike
