“God’s Promises”

13I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.   14Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,  15I will remember my covenant between me and you and al living creatures of every kind.  Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.  16Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”  Genesis 9:13-16

 

Recently, I was driving down the highway when we saw a beautiful rainbow!  What did we do?  Well, we puled over and got out to take a better look!  My daughter, Elizabeth, loved seeing this rainbow.

Every time I see a rainbow, I often think about God’s promise from Genesis and the covenant that was made.  I’ve seen quite a few rainbows this summer! God’s promises can be trusted and rainbows have always reminded me of God’s promises and God’s faithfulness to us! I hope that when you see a rainbow, you are reminded of God’s beauty, creation, promises, and faithfulness. I have said it often in church, but I think it is always good to repeat: God is always faithful to us even when we are not faithful to God. However, as disciples of Jesus Christ, let us aim to be faithful to God in all that we do! Let us continue to be guided by the Holy Spirit on this day!
