“O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.”
1 Chronicles 16:34
Well, here we are! Thanksgiving Day 2021 is upon us. For some, we may be thinking, “Already? I feel like summer just ended!” Time sure does fly sometimes, doesn’t it? On Sunday, I talked about gratitude. Without sounding like a broken record, I wanted to once again encourage us to be people who live in a grateful response to all that God has done in our lives. We can be grateful because God is faithful. We can be grateful because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We can be grateful because nothing can separate us from the love of God. We can be grateful because God created us in God’s own image. I could go on and on! However, sometimes life’s circumstances make it hard for us to be grateful. For some, this might be their first Thanksgiving without someone they love around the table, and that’s hard. Even in the midst of pain, uncertainty, and questions, there are still things we can stop and be thankful for. Family, friends, the church, etc. More importantly, we can give thanks to God. After all, scripture does teach us to give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. Not only that, but his steadfast love endures forever! God’s love is a steadfast love and it endures forever!
So wherever you find yourself on Thanksgiving day, take time to give thanks to God for all that God has done, all that God is doing, and all that God will continue to do in your life. God is with us each and every step of the way. For that alone, we can be thankful.
